Biography

The band Anderuvius was born in 2015 in Sorocaba, São Paulo, with the end of a previous project. The remaining members Victor Moraes, his brother Daniel Chan and Adrian Blakk began the search for a bassist who could fit with the band’s style and ideas and, after a long period, Fabio Vilela joined the group as a bassist and keyboardist. In this lineup, the band released their debut album Painter of the Universe, a conceptual heavy metal album that carries a theme of the cycle of creation, destruction and renewal of the universe, in a mixed approach with Tupi-Guarani mythology. The album features the special guest and renowned vocalist Leandro Caçoilo (Viper and Caravellus) and was produced by Tito Falaschi, who also sings on one of the album’s tracks. The album was released on August 7, 2021. In 2022, Fabio left the band and Maurício Pomar took over.

Band Members

Adrian Blakk

Lead Vocals (2015 – Present)

His first attempts to form a band were at age 14, when he attended a guitar friend’s performance. He started studying acoustic guitar but soon realized that the instrument seemed to hold up to the performances he intended to do on stage, even without having any real musical experience.

After a few years in bands, he enrolled in singing workshops in order to learn vocal techniques. Over time he studied lyrical and popular singing and, finding many gaps in heavy metal vocal techniques, began to study the larynx as a whole and to develop his own method.

Studying Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology, today he’s established as a professor of contemporary singing, with more than 20 years of musical life and with the background of several bands, Adrian is also a writer, having published seven books.

Daniel Chan

Drums (2015 – present)

He started listening to heavy metal in his youth, but he only started taking drums lessons at the age of 21. In 2011 he joined the band Genki Force, a J-Rock and anime songs project, where he played in several venues in his home area, and in 2012 he joined Spy Head, an authorial band with influences in Power Metal and MetalCore. After the end of this project, he formed Anderuvius alongside Victor Moraes and Adrian Blakk.

In 2018, he performed at Rock of Ages Live Fest and became an active member of this project.

The album Painter of the Universe is his first authorial work ever released, to which he also contributed to the creation of the concept, together with Adrian Blakk.

His influences include Aquiles Priester, Justin Foley, Tatsuya Amano and many others.

Victor Moraes

Guitars, Backing Vocals (2015 – Present)

He started taking acoustic guitar lessons at 11 years old, and one year later he changed to the electric guitar. At the age of 14, he joined his first band, with which he performed in many venues in the Sorocaba area.

During his youth, he joined a few cover bands. In 2005 he joined the band Genki Force, a J-Rock and anime songs project, where he played for many years. In 2011 he invited his brother Daniel Chan to join the band. Around the same time, he joined Spy Head band, where he met Adrian Blakk.

In 2012, the drummer for Spy Head broke his arm and the band had to find a backup for the shows. Victor once more invited Daniel to the stage. The band liked his performance so much that they invited Daniel to be the official drummer.

After the band fell apart, the remaining members – Victor, Daniel, and Adrian – formed another band, still unnamed, where they started writing their own material. With the arrival of Fábio Vilela in 2015 they made the name Anderuvius official and started working on the album that was later called Painter of the Universe.

Victor listens to Dream Theater, Alter Bridge, Adrenaline Mob, Slipknot, Van Halen, Whitesnake, Angra, among others.

Maurício Pomar

Bass Guitars, Backing Vocals (2022 – Present)

He began playing guitar in 1996 and in the following year started in classical guitar classes, which led him to be part of the Sorocaba Guitar Orchestra between 1997 and 2005, participating in various events in the interior of São Paulo.

He joined several bands from the Sorocaba region, mostly cover and tribute bands. He participated in several classical guitar groups and quartets and was one of the founding members of the now-extinct Sorocaba’s Music Academy.

He has been teaching music since 1999 and has varied influences ranging from classical to heavy metal. He is an active member of one of the largest Jams Sessions in the State of São Paulo, the Rock of Ages Live Fest.

He took over the bass in 2021 when he joined the band Inside Shadows. In 2022 he joined Anderuvius temporarily, replacing Fábio Vilela.
